Tips on Wearing the Sendero E-Pack

  • In the backpack configuration, take the weight off your neck and shoulders by snuggly fastening the waste strap on your hips.
  • If the pack is heavily loaded, the chest strap can be useful in keeping the weight close to your center of gravity.
  • When using either pouch individually with the shoulder strap, put your head and one arm through the strap. In this way, you can easily rotate the pack in front or to your side for convenient operation. You can rotate it behind you when just listening. This over-the-head arrangement allows you to easily take the E-Pack on and off.
  • Note that the GPS receiver will pick up best when it has the clearest view of the sky. This would be either on the shoulder strap or in the top of the pack when worn on your back. There is minimal degradation in signal when the receiver is under the pack material. We recommend however putting the receiver on the outside of the pack when first acquiring a position and then putting it inside when ready to go.
  • The GPS antenna will pick up fairly well when in the shoulder pack around waste level. When first acquiring a position, you may wish to put the unit in a visible location to the sky before putting it on your body. This is particularly important when in an area obstructed by tall buildings.
